Waking the Witch is a seasonal retreat in the hauntingly beautiful surroundings of Pendle Hill, Lancashire, a landscape steeped in myth, magic and dark history - the home of the famous Pendle Witches.
You are warmly invited to gather with us on the cusp of winter, when the veil between worlds grows thin, to reconnect with your own inner witch.
A witch is not something evil or demonic, but a reflection of what society fears most in women...autonomy, wisdom, courage and the rebellious spirit to defy social norms. This retreat is about reclaiming the parts of you that have been suppressed. The fear of speaking your truth, of trusting your intuition and of being seen in your full creative expression.
Through a series of potent workshops, time in nature, connecting with others and room to enjoy plenty of personal space and quiet moments - you can give yourself the gift of a witchy wintering getaway.

We will start off at Barley Village Hall, casting a circle to honour the themes of the retreat.
This will be a gentle space to get to know each other, followed by a guided meditation and energy work to awaken the witch within, setting intentions for the weekend and calling back the parts of yourself that have been hidden, silenced or suppressed.
You will be invited to craft your own witch archetype and find your seasonal guide, plus there will be ancestral invocation and offerings, an opportunity to weave lineage, personal histories, collective stories and local tales into our circle.
In the evening, you will enjoy time settling into your room at The Barley Mow before joining everyone at The Witch's Table (downstairs in the restaurant!) as we share a meal together by the fire.
On Sunday, we will start with a delicious breakfast at The Barley Mow, followed by an optional mindful walk through the forests of Pendle Sculpture Trail. A chance to really tune into the myths, history and energies of Pendle Hill.
In the afternoon, there will be a light lunch at Barley Village Hall before getting stuck into a create your own Grimoire workshop. A Grimoire is your own personal book/diary that contains all your magical learnings and it's a vessel for your insights and seasonal wisdom. Discover simple ways to weave sigils, symbols and spells into your pages, making it a living record of the weekend and your personal witch’s journey.
After the crafting, a closing circle will be facilitated with gifts and practical tools to take away so that you can maintain a connection and continue developing your spiritual practice after the retreat. A dreamy candlelit Sound Bath will draw the retreat to a close and have you almost drifting off, before we say our goodbyes.
